News at the Phi Psi house includes:
You are invited to join in the celebration of the 154th birthday of Phi Kappa Psi and the 43rd anniversary of the establishment of the Alabama Alpha Chapter. The Alabama Alpha Chapter and the Birmingham Alumni Association will jointly host Founders Day 2007 at the Alabama Alpha chapter house on Saturday, March 3, 2007, in Tuscaloosa. Our Founders Day this year promises to be an event that you will not want to miss!
The festivities will begin with a reception at the chapter house followed by a “Dedication of the newly refurbished John F. Ramsey Room.” During the reception there will be opportunities for house tours to view the many improvements that have been made to the chapter house over the last few of years. To quote a national educational leadership consultant that visited our chapter house last year before the refurbishing of the Ramsey room “the Alabama Alpha chapter house is one of the finest chapter houses in all of Phi Psi.” We truly have a chapter house that we can all be proud of. The Founders Day luncheon will be held in the chapter courtyard under the “Big Top” (tent). Our speaker for the luncheon will be Harry Lee, a former football player and the current Secretary/Treasurer of the Alabama Athletic Club (“A” Club) and a Trustee of the University’s John F. Ramsey Award. Following the luncheon Harry has arranged a walking tour of the newly refurbished football stadium and view the many areas of the stadium that are off limits to the general public on game days such as the media room, recruiting room, dressing rooms, sky boxes, the “A” Club room, and the “Zone” a beautiful glass enclosed social area that overlooks the Phi Psi house and the new stadium plaza which contains information on Alabama’s football legacy, including statutes of the four Alabama football coaches who have collectively won 12 national championships. We hope to arrange to have a group picture while we are in the stadium. To close out the Founders Day festivities the chapter plans to provide a dance band from 8pm to 12am in the courtyard under the “Big Top”. We hope you’ll make plans to attend!

Mark you calendars for Founder’s Day, Saturday, March 3, 2007, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. At Founder’s Day you will have the opportunity to see the improvements that have been made to the house such as the Ramsey Room and the kitchen. You will have the opportunity to meet our new housemother, Linda Campbell. Linda was hired to not only manage our kitchen and assist the House Corporation with management of the physical plant, but also to help ensure that the chapter house and grounds are presentable to the University community and public at all times. The last thing we need is complaints that our house and grounds detract from the new stadium plaza. Along those lines, just within the last couple of weeks we have replaced the tar stained roof shingles and painted flashing and other objects on the roof because the appearance of the roof detracted from the appearance of the house.
